  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Trying to remove and replace the flybridge compass I discovered that the wheel is in the way. I removed the nut but can not get the wheel to come off of the shaft. I've soaked it with "blaster" for a few days, but no luck. I have not gotten any more agressive than tapping on the underside of the wheel with a hammer, but the wheel just won't budge.

Suggestions will be most appreciated.
Regards,

Put a little heat on the hub. Its stainless and so is the straight shaft with a brass key. If you have to make a puller, drill and tap two 1/4-20 holes 180 apart and put a small jacking bar on the center. It will come right off. rebel

While putting pressure on the wheel to come off, take a ball peen hammer, put it on yhe shaft and whack it (the ball peen hammer) with a 5 lb sledgehammer. This almost always works. If not then you have to make up a puller.
