Hey there, was wondering what everyone's taste might be in the music department? For us, we like anything reggae/caribbean, Peter White, and of course Jimmy Buffett, yes I know he is over-rated, but he is still fun to listen to. Please share your favs? :)

J I M M Y B U F F E T T, Beach Boys and "The Barefoot Man" of the Abacos....

If I had to be on the "desert Isle" with only one artist's music the Beatles would be the only possible consideration. Currently I have rediscovered "And Your Bird Can Sing."

That being said, I love Handel's water music. If he was around today I'm sure he would have scored it for a pair of DDs in the bass!

Hmm. You name it, I have it!

Beach Boys, Tom Petty, Allman Bros., Joe Walsh, Buffett, some Peter Gabriel, Kenny Chesney, and some real eclectic mixes too obscure and long to mention...

Jimmy Buffett, especially his song, "Changes in latitudes changes in attitudes"

Jazz, Frank Sanatra, lately many of the stations on Sirius are EXCELLENT choices!

Come to think of it when I am on a boat, away from the office, with a "beverage" just about any song sounds good! :D

Jaxfishgyd, you said it.....Barefoot Man!!! This past Sunday was his annual concert at Nippers on Guana Cay. Unfortunately for the first time in 3 years, I could not make it. :( That is some of the best get-that-island-feelin' music I know of! Whenever I'm longing for the blue water of the Bahamas I just pop one of his CD's in and close my eyes. I can almost smell the sea air!

GO BAREFOOT!!!

Must add Kevin Laliberte's Siesta, along with artists Pete Fountain and George Winston (easy listening). Also like "Soul Dixieland" various artist like Preservation Hall groups. Laverne Baker once in awhile ain't too bad. Pavarotti's great on the classical side.

Ok, I should come clean. After I've had my Greefbeater/tonic "Inkkadink, kadinkkadink, kadinkkadoo for some strange reason gets played :D

Class challanged at times I'll admit.

It depends on the rpm.
When I feel like gentle displacement cruising at 1000 rpm, slouching in the helm chair, autopilot steering, feet on the console...... something mellow like the Beatles at quiet volume,

Blasting along at 2150 with my hair on fire, 12V71ti's at full bellow, on my feet, hand steering, wake 6 feet high, staggering blowboaters swearing at me...... something more like Metallica turned up to 11.

If I'm in a slow mood, Bob Marley "Legend" will do. If I'm in the rocking out mood well, that's Van Halen territory! I'm a master air guitar player ya know and of course after one or two or three  drinks I do a great Eddie Van Halen impersonation, minus the stripped spandex of course... :p

For quiet evenings on the boat, Madeleine Peyroux or Frank Sinatra. There's also a great Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler CD called "Neck and Neck" which I keep on the boat. Danny Gatton's "9/9/94", as well.

I don't have speakers on the bridge- can't hear anything up there. Maybe with new mufflers I'll have a reason to put them in. :D If I had to pick music to blast along with, I think it would be the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. I guess that dates me- but not as much as Jimmy Durante would. :p

Ford/Lehman 120 @ 2GPH! Sweet!
Otherwise:
Stan Getz, Pat Methany, Miles Davis, Old Blue Eyes, Tony Bennet, Chet Baker, Various Celtic Stuff, Sound track of Master and Commander, Perpetual Groove, Bobby Darin, Dave Brubek, Metalica, Lincoln Park, Rush, Ralph Vaughan Williams (Fantasia on a Theme, Greensleves and Lark Ascending)

Chet Baker, yes,............I'd forgotten about that. Have you heard "Live in Tokyo"? There's a great track on it called Arborway. Haven't listened to it more than fifty or a hundred times.....and I have a Pat Metheny CD called "Reunion" that's pretty good, too..

I have not heard "Tokyo" I'll check it out. I have every Pat Methany CD (well or 30) it never gets old just keeps evolving

For me, it depends on what I’m doing at the time and what time of day it is. I like Cuban and Puerto Rican tunes when starting the day and heading out to a favorite anchorage. If I’m cooking in the galley (yes, sometimes I do cook while cruising), I like trance/electronic music at a fairly moderate volume - keeps me paced with my agenda. In the evening, I usually like something a little more mellow such as Jim Cole, Livingston Taylor, and Diamonds & Rust (OK, I’m biased, Jim and “Diamonds & Rust” are friends of mine, and I’ve hung out with Liv a few times, what a great guy!). Geez, what a mix....Latin, trance, contemporary gospel, and folk! Who would have guessed all that together in one day? Oh, and of course, Jimmy Buffet is a staple on just about any boat (except Pascal’s).

Ok Pascal, it's your turn. What tunes might we here on your boat? :)

Must not be any fisherman on this thread, I can't believe no one's mentioned Capt. Sam Crutchfield. I'm sure some of you will say, "WHO?". To answer that, he's the former charter captain from West Palm Beach who decided to write his own fishin' songs which are hilarious and true. If you're a fisherman and haven't heard him, you've got to give him a try. He's on the web and at all the boat shows. For me, any music with a beat is good when I'm boating or fishing; no slow music when I'm on the water.
