Imthebeachgirl just posted a great post on favorite boat music what about everyones favorite boat drink (s)?

From morning to evening here are my picks however I do my very best NOT to mix (that much):
Captain and Coke - great on hot sunny days
Gray Goose and Tonic - later in the afternoons
Cabernet - dinner and evening
Labatte Blue Light - great general all around beer!

When thinking of the boat however, Captain and Coke has the #1 spot :D

Why would anyone ruin good liqour with coke? Try Sailor Jerry rum on the rocks. Or Crown Royal on the rocks, my favorite.
If one must mix rum with something, V8 Splash Tropical Blend is a great boat drink. :)

Good Scotch and Perrier.
And no....no Grey Poupon on the side.....

Cuba libre some times too...Rum, Coke and lime. Specially if it is Cacique Rum.

Bacardi Dark Rum with Diet Dr. Pepper fuels me and Strategic Plan. I know it sounds goofy - just try it - trust me!

Malibu Rum with Coke is my back-up fuel when the premium fuel isn't available. The General of course enjoys her wine, I just haul the trash and kiss her . . . . . . . oh, sorry I bumped my head on something . . .

My favorite changes from time to time. During a hot day, I prefer a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - that's about the only beer I'll drink. I used to brew my own when I had a house, so I'm a bit of a "beer snob."

For a mixed one, it varies, but a timeless favorite is vodka, lite cran-raspberry juice, with a splash of orange juice, shaken. Of course a good vodka and tonic with double lime is always refreshing. Just yesterday, I made my first mojito which was pretty good. They are a little work to make them in the traditional way. I just love the Cuban influence here in Miami! Good food, good beverage, and great people.

All this talk of boat drinks is making me very thirsty...but it is only 8:48 am...try not to tip the elbow until after 12 noon....LOL...we like Tangueray & tonic w/ lime, or Malibu Rum & coke, and Yunegling beer is good and cheap ;) but can't forget Mimosas for Sunday brunch..love the bubbly & OJ..

oppss, forgot to add that when we travel to an new place, we like to find out ahead of time if there are any "Micro breweries", love to test out new "samples"....

Maggys ... up, no salt ... or frozen
Coronas
Myers rum & OJ
Bloody Marys for brunch.

"Sag Harbor ... a drinking town with a boating problem"
:D

I like to make a "Greefbeater" in the warmer months. Beefeaters gin with Schweps tonic and a twist of fresh lime (never, never bottled lime juice).

WARNING: Do not attempt this during cruising or before vessel is safely secured at dock! US Surgeon General cautions that in warmer climate it is extremely difficult if not impossible to consume only one of the aforementioned mixed beverage! The consumption of this concoction should only be attempted by the most disciplined and tolerant of adults.

rarely a sunday morning without a big ice bucket with champagne and FRESH orange juice on the aft deck table...

or ...

cold Beaujolais
REAL beer... none of that light watery stuff... Bodingtons, Foster, Warsteiner, etc...
any Rum drink...
Pastis...
a shot of Amaretto on the rocks...

For me, it's hard to beat good old Stoli with a little Sprite Zero! It's the classic vodka/seven with no sugar, no caffeine, no calories, no fat or ANYTHING but good tase!

As far as drinking ANYTHING straight or on the rocks....that is most certainly an acquired taste that comes with decades of practice. I don't know of anyone under 40 (maybe under 50?) that drinks liquor straight/on the rocks. Maybe someday in the future I'll graduate from practicing amateur to professional and be able to handle something straight up.

I drink scotch on the rocks. and everything else too...

Mario, I guess you're much farther ahead on the learning curve than I am! More power to you!

Good luck with the boat sale.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to a toasting some day on the bow of our new boat. one just like "Sweet Melissa". ;)

Ok, ok....yes,...I forgot about champagne, didn't want to be accused of snob.
But last Sunday, for breakfast, we had freshly caught barracuda, like fished half an hour before,...cut in thin filets, no bones, covered with corn flour and fried golden crisp and a bottle of ice cold champagne...wow, what a tough life....

Got to go...a boat is waiting...and I'll be there for a week!!!!

barracuda , not worth ciginturra risk

Good ole Belvedere and Cran, or Parrot Bay cocnut Rum and Pineapple Juice :D

I have to admit that I'm kind of a wine snob. I have a large wine cellar in my basement and enjoy a well aged dry red wine. But, when I am on the boat and out in the sun, it's hard to beat a cold Labatts or Molson Canadian (we're not far from Canada here). Tangaret and Tonic are are on the my boat drink list.

Been eatin 'cuda fifty years now,...never had a problem. I suppose a lot depends on the area. And the size too. We never eat them larger than 10 lbs.

Beer for me, most any kind will suffice, prefer OPB (other peoples' beer). My spouse is a cherry mojito lush (with Grey Goose vodka).

Mario , skip the ice. slows the absorbtion.
Far as wine, Kathi drinks enough that we pulled the oven on our 41 and put in a wine cooler
