Do you think that 4 coats of paint on the Tstat housing would insulate the reading you get with an IR gun so the reading is less than the actual water temp or would the paint transfer heat the same as the metal. The reason I ask is my pilot house temp gauges both read about 10 degrees higher than the flybridge gauges and the IR gun. The flybridge gauges agree with the IR gun. I have always believed the gun, but now not sure. Thanks, John
