Hello All
My engine sync stopped. When I pull out the switch, no light and of course I can not advance the slave. Is there a fuse somewhere? I can't find anything obvious.

It could be a fuse or it could be a loose electrical connection or a broken wire. You obviously are not getting power through the switch. Trace it back with a tester and see where you can find power.

Probably the fuse; usually those are wired to the lower helm switch on the wire leading to the ignition switch.

No lower helm, I have cockpit controls, but I do not remember seeing a fuse there. I searched all over the flybridge helm for a fuse but did not see one there or near the sync in the engine room.

I don't know if this will help you, however, I've had a similar problem but with my windlass. Come to find out that in my engine compartment is what I call an electrical box that has the red battery switches mounted to the face of the box. On the top of the box is a lid that is attached by screws and when removed, inside is wiring (obviously), but also we found a half dozen of the wierdest fuses that I had never seen before. I had my mechanic trace them and found out that one was for the windlass, but was not marked as such. The other fuses were to a variety of electrical things including my entire DC panel, which means if that fuse had gone, I would have no idea it was there.

My point is, your boat being a Hatteras, may have an electrical box similar to mine (with batt switches on the front) and you may be surprised what you find inside. Maybe there is a fuse for your synchronizer system in there.

BTY, we eliminated the fuses and placed circuit breakers for all of them on the front of the box.

Thanks Karl I have such a box and will check it.

Hal,

There are mechanical cables going from the engine PTO to the Glendinning unit. Make sure the cables are screwed tightly into the Glendinning. They probably connect to an electric devise that sends an electric signal to your tachometers right at the Glendinning. Just make sure both cables are working and everything is tight. Check and see that both Tachometers work too. I think you can go to Glendinnings web site and down load a wiring diagram too but I'm not positive.

There is a fuse on mine inline on the wire connected to the switch. You also have to raise the RPM's above idle speed beofre you turn the unit on. I imagine you are aware of this but just want to be sure.
