Engine room panels

Hello,

The engine room pop-out panels in the passage way on my 58 YF have the original pins and plastic snaps which aren't up to the task any longer. The wood has split so some of the pins aren't held tight.

Has anyone replaced this system with regular latches, or a better way? Pics please - thx!

Given the infrequent need to take these off mine are screwed into the wall through the trim. It was like that when I bought the boat, and easy enough to remove as well as secure. Not at the boat so can’t provide a pic.
