  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I found a wire inside the upper deck of my 53 MY that looks like it was for the light over the port sliding door. There already was another wire leading to the light so I was not sure originally what it was for. I managed to cut right through it with a hole saw while I was chasing wet coring above the light. Bad news is the wire was live 32 volts and when I cut it no breakers tripped and it looks like no breaker turns it off. Thought it might be the old spotlight wire but it is not. Help, hate to glass it back in while it is hot. John

If a breaker doesn't control it then I would trace it back while you have access to the wiring. Is everything 32V working ?

Unfortunately is disappears in a little channel in the core and heads toward the fly bridge cowling but does not reappear under the fly bridge. John

Maybe have a look from the other end. If it's not wired to a breaker it should go to the main btty switch or direct to bttys, it's getting 32V from somewhere maybe behind the doc panel.

Turn off all of the 32 VDC breakers and then put a ringer on the positive side of the wire and see to which breaker it is connected to. Continue to do this until you get back to the batteries. You will find it.

Unless someone got really creative with the wiring, it has be controlled by a breaker. Problem is that the breaker will control other items... chances are that wire goes to a splice somewhere hidden like so many

I doubt it goes to the flybridge. It is most likely going to the wire chase by the pilothouse door and down to the ER. Open the chase you may find the a splice in there
