  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
67' COCKPIT MY (1987 - 1995)
I have a 54MY with a cockpit extension. The time has come to update soft goods. Current arrangement is sofa to starboard, end table aft, love seat along aft sliding glass door. Port side is where the built in television that raises and lowers resides.

We are thinking about building a platform under the new salon furniture so that people can enjoy the great views while sitting in the salon.

Anyone done something like this or have thoughts about how to fasten the platform to the salon deck? I am thinking of the worst seas and weather.

look at at the height of couches and see if theyre comfortable raised up. I had a friend who had some made higher and we cut them down because no one was comfortable sitting on them.

This is one of the mysteries of life: just why are the bottoms of motoryacht windows so high? Would the sea keeping ability of a 50' to 70' vessel be compromised by lowering the window sills by 6"? Would the aesthetics be so horrible as to violate some principle of design, or are all yacht designers over 6'6" (when designing salons: we know they are only 5'6" when designing berths)?
