  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
38' DOUBLE CABIN (1967 - 1971)
I've got some time this winter to see if I can bring my Eisenglass back to a clearer condtion. I've used the Meguiars #17 and #10 cleaner / Polish products before and was somewhat pleased with the result, but I've heard there are better, somewhat more aggressive products out there that can be used when the Eisenglass is a little further gone. Anyone got any recommendations they want to pass along?

I like the '210' cleaner polish the best. I have also used a bit of odorless paint thinner on a soft rag to remove soot and aircraft fuel residue. If you need to remove scratches, 'Finesit' (sp?) from 3M does a fairly good job if they are shallow, but it is a lot of work. Be sure to test an inconspicuous place first as these vinyls are not all the same.

I use Rain-X liquid . It removes the dirt and marks and buffs up shiny ,and the water beads up and falls off. It works great on good Eisenglass....Pat

The best thing I've used is "Plexus". It was developed for use in aviation.
It cleans, polishes and smells good too!

Lemon Pledge.

Lemon Pledge.

When you can still get it (which is difficult) regular Pledge works way better and is easier to remove streak-free.

I like regular Pledge too. I had a tough time finding it till I was in Hope Depot about 2 yrs ago and they had it, and in big spray cans.

Also found it a few times at the local Dollar Store in the regular size cans.

At the moment I still have 4 cans I got at Home Depot (bought the 8 cans they had at the time) and 2 cans from the Dollar Store.

Never thought of using Rain-X but like the idea of water beading up...

Your not supposed to use rain-x on plastic. I though it would be good to use on my bike wind shield. But the information with the shield says, do not use.
Is it just the type or all plastics? I just had my Fly bridge enclosed with lots of plastic.

This is a lot of work, but about every3 or 4 years,I do it.
1.wash the enclosure with mild soap and water, let it dry.
2.take all the panels down and lay them on clean carpet.
3.Buff both sides of the eisenglass with 3m perfectit and a new lambs wool
keep the buffer moving constantly.
4.hand buff with a clean soft cloth,do both sides with pledge, don't forget the
zippers.
When you finish you will think you are looking through a new enclosure.
