Early Christmas

I was working in Morehead and Beaufort yesterday and the paint shop texted me that they had sprayed the hull. I was so excited that I cancelled a couple of appointments and went over to see the boat. When I got over there no one was working and building was closed. Talk about a bummer.

Called the Owner and he gave me the code to get in. My Christmas came early. My wife has asked me not to discuss anymore and what will I do after we get her back and someone puts the first scratch on her. I am determined not to think about the first scratch.

That 31 Bertram looks pretty nice too - at least in the reflection it does

the Owner of the shop told me that the Bertram owner has spent just over 90K restoring her. It is a pretty boat but Im still trying to see where the 90K was spent. It is in this shop because the bertram owner brought it to this place as he was unhappy with the quality of work where he was. So they slid it in next to me and it is tight!

Hey deepsea, don't even think about the first scratch. Its like the first mile on a car. Take care and it will look great for years even as it accumulates "character". I have been through the paintshop twice. It will need it again in about 4 years. Not because I abuse it, not because I don't take care of it, but because we have so many memories made on it!

Okay, we do abuse it some but its still worth it.

Just get a little extra paint and hardener for touch up later. Keep it well sealed and cool and it will be good for years.
