While we are discussing laundry units for our boats, I thought it worth starting a new thread on a simple repair in case it might help somebody in the future. I believe the Kenmore/Whirlpool combo washer/dryer in Chateau de Mer is a replacement to the original and was installed in 1989. Anyway, this has been very reliable for us over the past ten years of 50-60% live aboard time.
Recently the dryer lint housing began to disintegrate and no parts are available. I was able to make a new housing from a thin piece of aluminum grill from Home Depot. The new housing was cut to match the original housing, smoothed to eliminate sharp edges and glued in with Ultra Blue RTV. So far so good.
