After nearly 7 years with our 53 MY I should know this but I never thought about it until this morning as I start winterizing: Is there a drain plug in the fresh water tanks?

Normally pump the water out of the tanks for winterizing but depending on how much is in there (I just filled them when I arrived a few days ago) it takes a while to pump it out through faucets/whatever and it means the pump has to run for quite a while. I was thinking it would be easier and no wear on the pump to just open a drain...

I don't recall any drain plug, but doesn't mean there isn't one. If you want to get the little bit of water that the regular water pump will not get, you could remove the plug on top of the tank and use a seperate pump.

I use a garden hose and siphon it out to bilge drain at water line.

I don't worry about the water remaining after the pump has "emptied" the tank. I pump a gallon of pink in there to ensure the connector between the two tanks doesn't freeze up but I do want all the water out that the pump can remove.

I hadn't thought of a syphon. Good Idea - I have several access valves to the FW system so I could just hook up a hose to one and start syphoning the water out of the tank! High school physics to the rescue! :)

Hi Mike:

Go in the closet in the Master SR, there is a "box" on the right side floor as you face it. Remove the box, pull off the hose and drain into bilge. You can also suck the red pop into this fitting and save many gallons. Let me know if it works/helps.

BTW I was in Celaya this week.
