Hello all,

I've got a 1999 52' Hatteras Sport Deck Motor Yachts. I'm considering replacing the built-in L-shaped couch with storage below for a fold-out sofa/bed and chair. However, I measured the exit doorway and it is only 21-3/4" wide. Taking the metal door trim out would gain me less than an inch. That's gonna be a problem. Does anyone have any experience with this or know any magic trick?

Can you take a window out?

Theres marine furniture specially made to go in smaller doors. Its expensive but would fit.

If still looking for options, I suggest looking at IKEA furniture. We also have a 52 Sport Deck and recently installed the “Morabo” sofa which fit thru doorway without removing door frame.

LoveSac is another alternative.

Also, there is a HUGE world of RV furniture out there, some of it quite upscale, designed to be disassembled, go through very small doors, and then be re-assembled.....Google that.

The marine furniture makers, like Glastop, make the furniture modular so it will easily fit through whatever door you have. The backs attach to the bottoms after you get them in place.
