  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
I took my bimini down last August for Hurricane season. Tried to get it back on last week and couldn't stretch it back on. Does Stamoid shrink?

Mine didn't. In addition to the double bimini, I also had it covering the forward sun pad deck for a few years, as well as the forward bench seat.

I have found that the product gets stiff and not easy to stretch when it's cold ( below 60 degrees) however when it warms up and the sun is on it is easy to work with i.e. Re-snapping etc. note mine is just a year old.

Mine didn't shrink. It may be the glass is stiff and not completely flat. As mentioned, it should soften and be more manageable in the sun.

When off for any period, I have to put my enclosure back on slack and then genty stretch back out to fit. I use those ratchet straps to pull a notch or two a day until it's back in place.

Thanks Guys. I'm HAPPY and inspired! Hopefully it goes on the next time I am at the boat.

I concur on the cool weather affecting the ability to hook it up. Ours was done in the Summer of '08. We have done the Bahamas in Winters for 7 years, left it on the hard uncovered, and cleaned the stuff regularly.

It's held up remarkably well but we did have it restitched.

I still have a couple of tight spots that I need warm weather to hook up. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with the material and would use it again in a heartbeat.

I always clean both sides of the clear stuff really well before rolling it up.

Mine shrinks when I don't use it....... Oh wait..... now I'm ah gonna get banned.....

Re check the fore and aft orientation is of the bimini correct (make certain it is not on backwards). secure the bimini to the fwd and aft frames first, and confirm they are centered. then push the center frames into position, this step may require lots of pressure. or i also like the ratchet strap method.
