Here is one for the esteemed senior members who have suffered w/ the Walker Air Seps and their expensive maintenance issues....I was at the Miami International Boat Show today, and among all the new bells and whistles was a product so simple in design and concept that youy w9onder if it really works and if so, why you did not think of it. This product promises to relieve nice people from all of the woes of cleaning their proprietory K+N's and reoiling them w/ the special oil and replacing them after three cleanings etc. I wanted to see what the forum thought about this product.

It is essentially a prefilter but really resembles a pre-fabbed sock that fits over your sparkeling new K+N's and protects them from ever being sooted out.

As per the salesman who owns a ferry boat and swears by these things, when these get slimed you pay $10.00 per sock and get new ones....wow what a great idea ! The site is www.filtereze.com What say you ?

Clever idea.
I have about 200 hours on my AirSeps so far and they look clean as when I installed them 3 years ago, so I really don't have a problem with cleaning/replacing cones.

What I have done this winter is design & fabricate a coalescing filter to be installed between the crankcase breather and the AirSep to reduce turbo compressor blade fouling. Parts cost $25/turbo and are available at Home Depo. I'll let the forum know how it works out.

If you think cleaning K+N filters is a hassle, you're doing something wrong. They're quick and easy to clean and oil, and if you don't physically damage them when handling they will last FOREVER. Wash, shake out the excess water (DON"T use an air hose to blow out the water) and let dry. Buy the aerosol oil at a motorcycle shop made specifically for K+N's and oiling is a snap.

The filters are ok, other than being a ripoff on the price.

The problem is the Airseps themselves. My solution was the Racor CCV system :D

FWIW, S&B make similar air filters that cost less and work just as well. They are available through Seaboard Marine (Tony Athens' shop) in California.
