Detroit Diesel surveyor/mechanic northern MI

Does anyone have the name of a Detroit Diesel mechanic/surveyor in Northern MI? Looking at two boats one with 12v71TA and one with 16v92DDEC. What would it cost to rebuild a pair of 16v92s? My guess is $80 to $100K
Also, what do you think the life of an Onan 20kw or 15kw genset is? Should one's with 4,500 hrs be a big concern? Of course we will assume they were cared for properly......

I've been quoted $50,000 per engine for a 12V71TI, Since you have 16 cylinders I would guesstimate $67,000 per engine as you have four more cylinders. This is for inframe rebuild.

If he is not retired, try to reach out to Mike Downy at Walstrom's in HS. He is ex USCG and triple ABYC certified. Great for serious surveys, and would probably know a very good DD tech.
