It is not unusual for "replacement" dipsticks to be very long with the expectation that they will be cut to fit and then marked for appropriate level. OTOH, if they want some stupid price for it beyond what a correct oem-style stick would cost, that's a different issue. If you buy/cut the long stick you can mark the correct add/full levels when you change the oil or compare it to an oem stick and mark the levels from that.
