Depth Finder

What appears to be the original depth finder on my 1976 43 DC died last week. It has a through hull transducer and worked great. I would love to find a replacement that uses the same transducer but the unit doesn't have any markings to even tell me who made it. Its white and rectangular abut 3 inches by 8 inches. With all of that info I am sure someone will have an extra in the Fedex by tomorrow

Since the boat will be in the water for about a year I will need to get a new depth finder for the lower helm that doesn't require a through hull transducer. I have a little Hummingbird unit like this on the flybridge that is adequate. Does anyone have any recommendation for other units that would meet these purposes.

What kind of display does the old unit have? We once built a Heathkit sounder that had an amber LED display. Sounds like about that vintage and size. I don't believe that had any name or numbers on it either. I think we built it in 1975 and put it on our brand new 36' Gulfstar Mark II Trawler. It only read to 199ft and then it rolled over. Not good when cruising at night with no radar and before Loran or GPS was available (But that's another story)

Write down any info that's on the display head and then call Steve McPhereson at Sam's Marine in NC. He probably knows what you've got and if anybody has a new display head, it'll be him. And he CAN have it in FEDEX tomorrow.
