Hey everyone!!Anybody know how thick the bow decking is on a 1988 67’ CPMY? I am looking at mounting dock boxes to my bow and I do not want to drill all the way through as I lag my boxes to the bow decking. Thank you Kevin

You want to be very careful not to cause leaks and rot the coring

Agreed. That is why my plan is to drill an oversized hole in both diameter and depth. Fill that hole with epoxy. Screw the mounting screw with a sealant of some type into the epoxy.

The epoxy should isolate the deck core from the screw and any moisture that may penetrate via the threads.

Well, on my 43DC the front deck was roughly 3/8"" of fiberglass and then 7/8" balsa core and then 1/4" bottom skin.

I used a 1” hole saw places I did this and once it was started slid the pilot bit back flush then carefully and slowly drilled through the coring. Wasn’t hard to feel the resistance of the layer of glass underneath. I then took a bent nail in a drill and ate the coring back so there was a lip under the top layer for the resins to adhere to. I chopped up some scrap matting with a scissors and mixed that with the resin.
