  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
I want to use the area under the benches on either sides of the flybridge for storage on our 43 DC 1983. I would like cut holes in the area under the seat cusions and install flush deck hatches. However; On both sides there is a piece of plywood attached to the underside of the bench and on the stb side there is some metal framework.

Has anyone cut into this and tell me what I am getting into?

Thanks

I did in my sport fish, just drilled the corners and used a jig saw, but the damn plywood under there is pretty thick! Installed those white hatches with the twist latches and gaskets in the frame. Used Life caulk to put them in. Now they are completely full and I forgot whats in them!

Go for it!

Thanks,
I'll follow your lead.

Hey Captned,
Wanting to do same on my 46c, hope this question applies to all. Did you have to add any vertical supports/stanchions under the cut edge of the seat for weight support? I guess how large of a section you remove also comes into play.
Thanks
