  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
42' CONVERTIBLE (1971 - 1978)
The a/c has been shut down for six months and when powered up from the breaker, even though off on the smx II panel, the raw water pump runs and continues to do so until the breaker is turned off. Also the unit doesn't stop cooling at the set temperature. The cooling light goes off on the panel but the salon slowly goes into the ice age. I've swapped out the control panel for a new spare that I carry and no difference.
Can anyone point me in the likely direction of the fault.

Pump continues to run, If you have multiple units, you didn't mention the boat in question, the pump
relay may be the problem. Relay remaining on the pump will ten as soon as it sees power.

The control panel doesn't do much except provide the interface. Chances are the problem is on the control board, likely a relay. Usually the control board is mounted on the units but sometimes I ve seen them in a box near the control panel

To give some feedback on this. I checked the relays by swapping them over, no difference. Triacs were the next suspect and I bought a replacement, about $6 from an online electrical supplies. I changed out the only Triac I could see, in the pump control box with the triggers and it made no difference. After a bit of searching I found another control box by the air handler and this one had the failed Triac in it. Replaced and system ok.
