  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Units work fine but having trouble with salon display. This summer it was fine and then literally blinked out and is stuck in cool and wont light up or allow any change to function. Was going to test with another display but wanted to see what suggestions other may have!

Also check the cable out too. I've had bad cables out of the box....so I'm sure they can fail over time.

The SMX display controls go bad pretty regularly. Switch it out with another one, if good repair or replace the bad control. Try Flight Systems, they fix bad ones and also make/sell new ones, have used them multiple times.

As mentioned above you more than likely need a new display. I had to replace 2 this summer for similar issues as you have described.

Switched out displays and everything was fine. So it’s not the display but I did notice I have a wire that’s come disconnected. Going to turn power off and try that

So I switched back the display after finding out it worked and it does not light up. The wires had nothing to do with the system. Right now the fan is just turned on and it’s blowing and I’m only able to control it by turning the breaker on and off

I ran the display cable back and reseated the end by the control box and the display works. Now the problem was when I hooked those wires up that I thought were part of it something arched and the fan is stuck in high and I’m unable to turn the unit on and off except with the breaker. Looks like I fried the board and will be ordering a new board but at least I know what it is.

Flight systems also works on the control boards.

Before you condemn the board, test with another cable. I've had one fail and it did goofy stuff.
