Hatteras Model
37' CONVERTIBLE (1977 - 1982)
While finishing one job, I came across another. I just finished repacking the stuffing boxes on my 1980 37 C with lots of help from this forum, thanks again. But while I was working on the stuffing boxes I noticed the copper supply and return fuel lines run low in the bilge beside the stuffing boxes and over the years have become quite corroded, very green and scaley. Should I replace these in copper again, or is there something better out there.
Thanks
Scott

I would transition to rubber if you have diesel. It's easier to work with and should be durable and corrosion free.

Yes, I neglected to mention, I have diesels.

You can get fittings from the copper flare to the rubber and either have them made up before hand or do them yourself. Remember that copper flares are different from high pressure hydraulic flares. The hose people know the difference if they make them or get you the parts.

If you use CG rated lines and make sure they are supported well in the dry ares of the bilge they can last a long long time.

Noticed the same when I bought our 1979 46c 4 monthes ago. Steering lines already replaced with hynautic, fuel lines will be next, probably parker/ aeroquipt, and water lines with pex.
