  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
67' COCKPIT MY (1987 - 1995)
My mechanic installed a new raw water pump on my starboard 6-71N.

Unfortunately he reversed the hoses which became real obvious when we turned it on and nothing came out the back and a whole lot of bubbles came out from under the boat.

It probably ran for no more than 5 seconds and did not over heat. I am low on fuel so the exhaust pipes were dry and no water flowed through them in reverse.

Anything I should check for to have been damaged by this screw up before leaving on a 1,200 mile cruise today?

If the system was otherwise correct there should be no damage except to your mechanics reputation.

If the pump was dry, dry you may have damaged the impeller, other than that you should be OK.

The impeller may have been destroyed but other than that, given the very short run time, I think you're fine.
