cleaning freshwater tank?

figured now might be the time to tackle this issue. I am considering changing the original freshwater tank into a waste water tank and adding a new freshwater tank. Not sure if this makes any sense. I have no idea how to clean the freshwater tank to make it suitable for drinking water again. I don't believe my 34DC has a waste tank so either way a new tank has to go in. Any ideas?
