Check Valve in RACORS

I have RACOR "Cruise Pack" set ups on my 6V92TA's. On my port engine the aft filter will not allow fuel to flow, when I close the fwd filter and open the valve to the aft filter the vacuum gauge goes immediately into the red (full restriction). Is there a check valve at the bottom of the tube in the center of the RACOR? If so can I "tap" it with a piece of 1/4" dowel to free it? Thanks. Don

There is a ball in the RACOR that shuts off fuel if there's too much water in there (it floats in water, but not in fuel), and a gasket (rubber) on which it theoretically will seal.

Its possible that it is stuck, yes. Getting to it pretty much requires disassembling the bowl and unscrewing the "turbine" piece; the ball is in there.

I don't remember if you can tap it down from the top down the tube or not - not sure if that tube goes straight through.....

Also possible you sucked up some gunk from the tank and plugged up the internal passages in the Racor. I've had that happen myself. That is not fun to clear out when it happens; one possible option is a vacuum tank - hook it to the output side of the RACOR with a high vacuum in it and open up the valve.

Then center tube on the Racor is NOT straight through. You have to remove the bowl and the turbine to gain access to the check valve. On reassembley make certain the turbine is not over tightend as this will distort the seal resulting in a leaking check valve.
