Central American refitters

Anybody ever take their boat to Mexico, Panama, or other Central American country to have major work or refits done? I’m looking to have boat repainted and some internal updates made. Any recommendations?

I saw a video of a 62 Norhavn that sailed to Guatemala I think for paint and it was a fraction of the cost of work in the US. The owners seemed very happy with it. Its on you tube, pretty wekll chronicled. searchable under the vessel name Kariwa.

There is a family with a Hatteras 42 or 48 LRC that took the boat to Mexico to get painted I think too that is on YouTube.

Bret that was a 48 LRC I surveyed it when the current owner bought it and he was very happy with the paint job he had done at Baja Naval in Ensenada. I understand that Baja Naval is West Marines largest customer
