canister filter for trans ?

what filter are we putting in these canister type filters on the allisons , and where are you purchaseing them ? are they the same filters as the eng oil canisters ?

I always just went to a Detroit Diesel parts center and told them the engine numbers and that I needed filters for an Allison M20, and they sold me filters. You could call them to get a number. The bolt on those big cans took 50 ft. lbs torque, need a big torque wrench.

Yeah I also just go to the parts store and they enter it into the computer and pull the right filter.

Once I get it, I enter the info into my log, and staple the box top into the log as well then next time I know what I need. I need the idiot proof system!

I'm impressed! Never seem to be able to make time to keep my logs properly... on the maintenance side anyway.

I keep 2 paper logs, one for routine maintenance and one for the refit activities. This year I made them electronic so they are "searchable" - so when I want to look for the details about a product I used, or a procedural detail, I can look that up much more easily.

I also have a spreadsheet for routine maintenance activities- things that need to be done monthly, annually, every other year, every three years.

These systems helped me a great deal to get ahold of taking care of the boat and trying not to let things fall through a crack. I'm a type A personality and this helps me feel organized.
