  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
37' CONVERTIBLE (1977 - 1982)
This afternoon I decided to clean out the drawers and hatches in my v-berth compartments. When opening the hatch in the floor, I was surprised to see about 2 inches of water. I vacuumed the water out and scrubbed it with fresh water and soap and re vacuumed.

But what is the thing just next to the bilge pump, and what does it do, how does it work.

Just forward of that appears to be a through hull transducer with a bronze T-handle. It only has one wire to it(approx #4) looks like a ground. Any one know what this is...

Appreciate any knowledge. You can share..

Garboard drain plug.

Not 100% sure on the red thing, but that may be the pick-up for a manual bilge pump. Do you have a manual bilge pump in a closet near that bilge section?

Believe it or not, the t-handle is a bilge plug. The green wire is a bonding wire...

EDIT:
I noticed someone answered while I was typing.. "Garboard drain plug" sounds so much better than bilge plug..!

Yes, the closet is just just above a couple of feet away. I should have trace it back...

What is the purpose of the bilge plug, when and how would you use it

The bilge plug is handy when you have the boat hauled out and want to wash the bilge.

Thanks for sharing the knowledge, I learn something every day. This site/forum is great. Many thanks..
