  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
Your not going to beleve this one, but I got a call a few days ago from the current owner of our old 34' Sedan. He told me his wife is ill and the boat has to go. Yaisy and I went by the boat yeasterday, fired her up and went for a ride. the old gal ran fine with a slight vibration on the starboard shaft otherwise she's just like I left her. On the way back I noticed Yaisy was alittle quiet and nostalgic. after all, she would see the 34' 2 or 3 times a week at anchor or going for a ride. anyhow, I bought her back for a song...

Am I a knuckle head or what?

PS. anybody have water front property in Nevada I can buy also.

yeah.. you are crazy!

congratulations though...

btw, Siboney looked great the other night at the parade, you guys had a real party going on there!!! the inflatable plane on the brow was a nice touch...

but you need to kick the butts of whoever was in charge of the parade at your club... no publicity, no audience, and the boats started turning early, eventually not even reaching where we were anchored out! a shame that so many of you spent a lot of time getting ready and few people could enjoy the show.

LOL...Mario...2 Hatt owner?

...are you trying to follow the footsteps of Freebird?

Say it ain't so...

So what are you going to do tow the 34' and the center console when you go for the weekend?
Mike

Pascal, I know, the parade was poorly advertised and a bone head turned to early instead of going to the end of brickel key. oh well, next year!

Passages, yep almost like the Bird but he still has me beat by a few feet. :)

Hmmm... I'll get back to ya on that. ;)

Congrats Mario! While you are not the first to be a two Hatt owner, you are most certainly the first two Hatt owner that does not have either Hatt (or both) for sale! As long as you have the time to use and enjoy both Hatt's I say why not.

You could tow the 34, but that is getting a bit big for a tow and then you still have the CC. You seem to have a large family who loves boating as well, so maybe you could entrust some of the family to run the 34' to follow you. Heck, the big boys do it all the time, they just call them "shadow" boats.

GO MARIO AND YAISY!!!

Don't forget JLR has a 43 Open and a 56MY at the same dock.

Oops! Neither one for sale? I did not realize that. I stand corrected. Mario has joined an exclusive club indeed.

I am going with Crazy :)

Good Luck with the Fleet!

So...are we now looking at the 3 happiest days of a boaters life??

ThirdHatt, Shes just to big to tow. i'll stick with the CC in tow. The fact is I don't know what i'm going to do with the 34. I just coulden't stand to see her neglected. I'll probably hold on to her and accept any offers. we'll see.

Mario...Maybe you should check the pressuriztion system on the airplane you fly. I think the differential is too low and you are suffering from lack of O2. 2 old Hats...I am going with crazy also, but maybe it is just caused by the flying eh?:)

Mario is going to be his own parade with all of his fleet in tow behind Siboney. I can't wait to see that! :D

When I met Ed, he had two boats - that's how I met him - the wife finally made him sell one of them and I bought that one; anyway, he always called the other one his "guest condo" (that was the former "Sanctuary") I've seen the number of guests Mario and Yaisy have had at any given time....correction, at EVERY time I've seen them, and they can use a few extra boats in tow! That family...all of them...really knows how to have a GREAT time.

yeah... but in this case Yaisy is just as crazy as Mario! :-)

Mario, You did the right thing. Make sure she gets a good home.

ThirdHatt, Shes just to big to tow. QUOTE]

Mario, what does your 34 weigh? I had no idea so I looked through the Sam's brochures and at some 34's on Yachtworld out of curiosity and I have seen 13,000 quoted a couple of times and one quoted 15,000 with Yanmar diesels. If that is the case and those numbers are in the ballpark, it is not too big weight-wise because I regularly tow my 31' (33' overall) Ocean Master CC that weighs in at a hefty 15,000lbs. She tows like a champ and the 58YF barely knows she's back there at all. The key is having a couple of good crew in the cockpit to handle the connect/disconnect process.

Granted, a CC is the boat to have for running around once you have arrived at your destination, but if there is a particular trip that you would like to have the 34' along I wouldn't hesitate to tow it if the weight is indeed in the range estimated above. You are fortunate to have plenty of friends and family on board to help crew when you travel. Put them to work! LOL

Sounds like an ironic twist of craziness to me... at least the part about talking of selling her again already. What's wrong with his and her's Hatts?

You've obviously snagged a woman who loves boating, so make the most of it. Use the 58 for family/friends affairs, then sneak out on the 34 when it's just the two of you.
