Our sliding teak salon door almost doesn't slide. I re-did that thing 3 years ago and I was not happy with the stupid washers and wood shims on the rollers. I also had to remove the brass upper track screws and take the door out with the track. I have never been able to get it right and thought it was a bad Hatteras design and install. Wellllll, today I stopped at Sam's in Ft. Lauderdale. I bought new rollers and generally complained about the stupid door. They looked up the info on our door install on the Hatteras site. The door was installed with no shims on 1/25/1986. Now, how many 22 year old boats can you get that level of data about? Next it tells that the windows in that door are 1/4" tempered glass. Ahaa..Ours are plastic. Now they ask about the condition of the springs on the upper rollers. What springs, our door has no springs and it is impossible to get the door right with the rigid mounted rollers. Somebody probably broke the door glass and had the plastic installed. This Bubba also tried to re-design the roller system. Well, thanks to the knowledge and help from the guys at the Lauderdale Sam's store, I now have the correct parts and will get it right on Saturday. Friday is reserved for the Miami get together. I also bought a new light socket for the indicator light on the shower pump switch. How many 22 year old boat's builders can say that exact replacement parts are still available. What a great group at Sam's and great info available on the Hatteras computer system. Even Bubba can't knock these guys down. I would never have known that ours was bubbaized if those guys hadn't taken their time to help sort this thing out. Now our door will have the upper rollers riding on springs and I am sure the door will now work as Hatteras intended. I got you Bubba.
Now, where are the judges??
