Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I originally posted this under tech adise. I guess it belongs here.
I am attempting to match the Formica that was used on my lower helm station. I was talking to Steve McPherson and he is familiar with it and he is the one that gave me the correct name for the pattern. The problem is, according to a local builders supply house, it was discontinued approx 6 years ago. Is there any club members that are in this industry that may have a way of searching for discontinued Formica?? I know its a stretch but would rather match it than completly redo the whole thing.
Thanks
Ben

I was in the same situation a few years ago. I could not find the exact pattern to match but bought a sheet of Wilsonart (another manufacturer of laminate) in a back leather finish that was very close to the original pattern. Black is the easiest color to match. A new piece of brown laminate might not match up right next to the original. I recovered the instrument panel to put in new electronics. It looks very original now.

You might find the original of you call around enough. You will need the part number of the pattern but I think you will have to make lots of calls and be really really lucky to find it!

I'd suggest find a "Wilsonart" dealer and get samples. When I checked Formica brand was not a close of a match.

Wilsonart told me that they don't make the leather finish anymore.
