  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Hey Guys. New "old" Hatt owner here and newer forum member. Fell in love with a 53MY that surveyed and sea trialed well and now Im the proud new owner/sucker! Have completely revamped the electronics, new bottom job and running gear, most of the motor survey notations are done. Now on to the cosmetic factor for the admiral. Ive replaced the gaskets in all the port lights, brought the Lexan back to life with headlight restorer of all things! Some minor water spots around the portlights from the POs neglect. What is the best way to remedy this? Can it just be a small stain and poly job or does the entire sheet of veneer need to be replaced? If a few of you who have done this same thing dont mind passing on your wisdom Id be very grateful!

Thank you all!

Adam

A search here/ will yield many prior discusions. My self, I'd try simple watco teak oil on a Q-tip. If that doesn't give the results you want, remove it immediatly with spirits and then look for a stain to restore the color. Many here suggest Minwax cherry, but it might be a bit too red. Simple water spots, i.e. no rot, should be easy to do a cosmetic restore to an acceptable standard.

On mine I just touched up with Epiphanes varnish, thinned by 25%. It soaked in well and the color matched perfectly.

You may try old English furniture polish there are two colars dark and lite. I purchased both and mixed
till i got the correct color.
