- Hatteras Model
- 36' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1969 -1977)
The first mistake was going to the Annapolis boat show. (I won't even think about how much financial damage I would do to myself if I went to FLIBS) I got to admire the Hatteras 45, which is a lovely boat and probably very fast with two big Caterpillars in there. I think they said 45 kts. No, they are not going to make a convertible. They are, evidently, selling every hull they can crank out.
The second mistake was going through the tents and stopping at the people who put imitation teak on decks. This was DRB Marine, with a plastic material that looks like washed and non-oiled teak with black seam sealer between the "planks". It's handsome stuff.
If anyone's had a "teak" deck put down, and has good, or bad, to say about the material, I'd like to know of it. This spring, it's either that or refinish the deck, which has a few dings in it. It seems to get more wear than any other part of my boat, not too surprising as everyone gets on and off that way. Advice appreciated.
