Boat Recommendations - Chris Craft Roamer 40 ?

A friend of mine is looking for a boat and asked what I thought of a 2006 Chris Craft Roamer 40. From the photos I saw, all I could say was "nice boat". It did not look much like my preferred boat and have no idea about the quality. The layout looked good. The boat has Volvo IPS.
He is looking for a boat to cruise the northern gulf coast ICW and near shore, and be able to run easily at 15 kt or so. Usually he and is wife and some times another couple. Two staterooms, 2 heads, layout compatible for entertaining. He does not want the maintenance of an older traditional boat and is not particularly interested in fishing. 4' or less draft preferred.

If your friend doesn't want a lot of maintenance then don't buy a Chris Roamer 40. They have teak trim and decking from stem to stern. The hulls are mostly painted if they are the Navy blue color as the original gelcoat faded badly.

Look at a Tiara 40 instead. Much bigger cabin and IMHO a better boat.

Your advice was confirmed. He looked at a Tiara which was much bigger inside and put the CC out of the hunt.

Ditto from me on the "modern" Roamer. The Tiara 40 is a superior suggestion.

The new Romers are stylish, but the one in our marina is the faded blue referred to by others and while the pod drives are more efficient at higher speeds, the observed maintenance issues are not worth it. There was a Sabre stranded at Guntersville because he couldn't find anybody to work on them.
