Blue box under cockpit floor creating heat/electrical

All,

I noticed the floor in the cockpit of our boat was warm to the touch and found the large blue box under the cockpit floor to be the source of the heat. It was a really hot day and the a/c units on the boat pretty much ran nonstop. The box appears to be electrical. It is approximately 1'x'1x'1'. Can anyone tell me what the box is and if it's normal for it to be warm like it was under those conditions. 1981 43' Hatteras Convertible.

Can you attach a picture or 2 so we can see what you are looking at? Also turn off AC power and remove the cover for a picture.

That's your isolation transformer. It should be hot.
