That’s a new one to me….
For the last couple of weeks, both my chillers have been running 15 to 20 degrees higher than normal, one of them tripping occasionally. Measured outflow using a jug and a timer and was barely getting 100gph at each chiller discharge. Not enough for 36k units.
Popped the hose at the pump inlet, opened the seacock and again not enough water coming in. Ended up removing the elbow at the seacock and it turned out a big barnacle was stuck in there, just sitting on top of the ball. It was acting as a check valve, popping up in the 90 degree elbow and restricting flow. Must have grown inside the thru hull and gotten loose.
Both chillers are now running with the coils at around 115F instead of 140F
