  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
40' DOUBLE CABIN-Series I (1986 - 1989)
Ok this has nothing to do with my Hat however I have to get this black cloud that is hovering over my family to go away. As you may or may not remember I blew out my knee in April and had surgery. Getting back to normal so I go racing on a sailboat in New England over Labor day weekend. My wife has nothing to do so she goes to Richmond to see my youngest son. They go for a bike ride (15 miles) and are almost home when my wife sees a speeding car coming down the road and slams on the brakes. She must have hit the front brake hard and goes ass over teakettle over the handlebars. Only problem her arms are caught in the handlebars! You guessed it, 2 broken arms!!!!! SOMEBODY PLEASE GET THIS CLOUD TO GO TO A SEARAY OWNER!!!!!!!!!!!

Skip,
Sorry to hear of the accidents your family has endured. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. My suggestion would be to stop all of that physical activity and just sit on your Hatt and enjoy the ride. You can't get into too much trouble that way.

Your family is in our family prayers...

Skip,

Sorry to hear about your wife. I agree... you need to lay low for a while. Give me a call somtime.

Erich

Skip, your luck has got to change...maybe it is time to play the lottery??? I actually had the same thing happen to a friend of mine. We were bike riding to the next town to go to the farmers market. About half way there, she hit a grate in the pavement, flew over the handle bars and landed on her elbow. That afternoon she spent in surgery, pins, braided wire and a cast is what she ended up with. You just never know...time to count your luck stars...

Erich, The good thing if I can find a silver lining is that the people in New Bern have been and continue to be the finest bunch anyone could ever hope to be associated with. After only 4 hours of the news getting out we had a neighbor come over with a schedule of dinners being prepared for the next 2 1/2 weeks by the group of neighbors we have gotten to know over the past year since we moved in. Visits and calls with offers to do anything and everything! We truly are fortunate to have moved here!!!!!!!!

There's where the bad karma came from.... those stinkin blowboats.... And the Patroits.......

This coming from a man who was out of work from April 19th till August 3rd and still on "light duty".... But as I get/got full pay.......

I hope your bad luck is over. As far as bicycles go, the worst accidents I have had have been riding bikes, been skinned head to toe riding a 10 speed back when I thought I actually enjoyed riding them. I raced dirt bikes and street bikes, never even got a scab, but on the human powered one, both knees, elbows, shoulders, head, chin, palms. LOL Until I gave up that up. I rode all over California and even raced in the TransIstmus Race in the Republic of Panama' before I figured out that it wasn't that much fun. Now I ride a Chopper!
