I wonder if it will help revive Bimini, the ferry service might. Among the blows to Bimini in the past 10 years, the demise of chalk's was probably the worst.

Oh YUK! Adding a casino to that desolate little “Disney Land” they built up there at the far end of the island doesn’t entice me one bit. I see that plan for a casino on Bimini as a spoiler for those particular islands, not an enhancement. If I wanted to stay inside a casino while on vacation, I think I’d go to Las Vegas, or if I absolutely needed to do it in the Bahamas, then Nassau or on a cruise. Bimini is for boaters - fishing, swimming, snorkeling, exploring, beachcombing, etc. Well, at least the casino will be at the far end of the island where it appears no one goes, anyway. When we were cruising through Bimini Bay last year in the Whaler just to get a peek at what that place was, it was very empty and quiet - only a handful of boats (mostly megayachts) here and there, while all the other less glamorous places were filled with happy people. I could be wrong, but I don’t think a casino will do anything to stimulate more visitation to the Bimini islands - it’s just not what Bimini is about.

Casinos always attract the little old ladies with a cigarette in one hand and a social security check in the other. I don't they care much about beachcombing anyway.

Oh I fully agree that Bimini bay has sucked the life out of Alice town... It has also destroyed a great beach bordered by Australian pines.

But, Alice town can use more visitors and hopefully the ferry, if it works out, will help.
Ast time I was there, in April, they were slowly working on expanding the gov dick to accommodate the ferry...

On other Bimini news, I heard that Big game is no longer operated by Harvey Resorts. I hope they stay open...
