I am holding water in the bilge, at midship starboard side of of my 36C Hatteras. (Right at the bulkhead where the salon steps down to the lower section of the boat, next to the fiberglass water tank.) It is about 2 to 3 inches deep. I have tried to clean out all the piping that was glassed into the hull, but for some reason, the water is not draining out. The Port side is dry. I do not know if the water is supposed to drain forward, or to the stern. Please advise as to what I should be looking for, or how to remove the water, other than using a shop VAC?

So, the area by the front engine room bulkhead? My boat's been bastardized a lot, but that area in front of the engine drains aft via a tube alongside the stringer to the area where the shaft logs are, then through a limber hole in the stringer into the center bilge. So I would say your problem is that tube. If it's the same as mine.

Hope that helps.

Best way I have found is to find the drain hole (locate the one on the dry side so you know about where it is) and use a hose with a nozzle to send pressure and current down the drain. I doesn't take much to clog these and most times easy to fix.

I can only speak to my 1975 36C. The compartment in front of the engines will drain forward when the boat is at rest. I had a similar problem. I used a fish tape with a small spring taped to it at 90 degrees. That let me run the whole length of the limber holes and would clean out any passage to the side as well.
