  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
63' COCKPIT MY (1985 - 1987)
My 32 v hydraulic power unit has shorted out and 32 v replacement is not available. I have been told that you can connect 24 v unit to the 32 v and due to pump not running long, that it will work satisfactory. Has anyone done this?

I did dosent seem to be a problem.

No problems with my 24V pump on 32V system these last two years.

Could a good generator or electrical shop rebuild your old motor? Probably a wiring or commutator fault. Worth an ask if the pieces look OK.

I, too, have found that using 24v motors on 32v for brief spurts has been acceptable, but rsmith is right - the motors run fast on that voltage. I've been running 24v vacuflush pump on 32v for a while now, and no problems, but it does pump like it's off to the races. I suspect the motor will eventually wear out a tad faster than it would with the correct voltage, but when the 32v motors simply aren't available anymore, it's the next best thing. I would not do that in a situation where a motor had to run for long periods of time or at relatively frequent intervals.

I have been starting my port v12, 24 v starter with 36 v for 15 yrs now...still ok...
