Does anybody out there know the beam of a 53 convertible at the water line? I know the beam of the boat is 16' . However is it the same at the water line or does it narrow a bit? I love the old 53's but I don't know if they would fit in my present slip. Thanks for any input.

Maximum beam is what will determine whether your boat would fit in any given slip, I think. The specs for these boats are on file with Sam's, although I don't think they are on the web site. Most of those boats had a 15'10" beam, for what it is worth.

Yes it narrows a bit at the waterline. I don't know how much though. If it's like the 53MY, I'd guess it's less than 15 ft. at the waterline at the widest point. Of course, you could call Hatteras.

It's impolite to request the "beam" measure of a lady. And those 53's ARE definitely ladies..

ESPECIALLY near her bottom! ;)

EASY, guys! I just got back from a 9 day boat trip with two other guys stuck on a 48' sportfish! Even the goats on Goat Island down south started to look good as we passed by.

K
