Battery Charging Issues

Hello again,

Last May I had a problem with the house and starboard batteries charging, I replaced the batteries. It turned out to be a 50amp fuse on the engine room panel, dam.

Last November I had to use the parallel switch to start the port engines, they were dead but did show some life with the generators charging them. I just replaced those port batteries, a job I will never do again, but now they are not charging by the battery charger----Help

Do they appear to charge when the engines are running? Or does the gauge flatline.

When was the last time you checked the water in the batteries?

Had same issues and it was the water level. Also the charger system reset and went back to default settings. Once I added water and charged all was good!

Thanks for the response, the batteries have just been replaced and they were tested prior to install,
water level state of charge ect. I have checked and cleaned all connections and fuses and even tried
resetting the charger, no luck

as it turned out it was the port side 50amp fuse, go figure, always look for the simplest solution, damn.

FWIW If you have a new charger check to see what amps are required. We upgraded to the pro charger 1260 and it requires 70 amp breakers or 10 amps more than max charge.

Also be sure the wire is the correct size. Paid a yard to install the charger and just hooked it up to the old wires. Almost had a fire!

2 grand later like new!
