Did the 'search' for back threads that have been posted on fuel guages, of which I DO NOT have on mine.... Did find this thread...

http://www.samsmarine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=883&highlight=fuel+tank+guages&page=3

On some thread, either here or on some other site I asked why shouldn't I open the valve between my two tanks. I can only "dip" my starboard tank but not the port due to a kink in the hose.

And as my genset runs off the port tank, thats the one I care about the most. And DID have it run dry once.

The boat has a very slight list to the port, and someone said if I opened the valve, the lower side would fill up more, increasing the list. But as I only hold some 185 gals per tank, wouldn't think it would be "that much".

And running the genset is a MUST in the summertime for the A/C when we anchor out for the night or are just taking a day cruise with the 5 grandkids.

I could also just get a 10' length of flexable hose and see if I could snake it past the kink and use it to dip the port tank. I had my tanks polished when I bought the boat and the people were able to get their hoses into the tank, after a bit of a battle.

Just seems it would be a lot easier to just open the vavle between the tanks, that way I know I have all the fuel available and is an easy 30 sec job to stick the one tank.

Besides, with the cost of diesel now and what it's going to be in the next few months, NO LONG TRIPS are planned.

(diesel at Marsh Harbour in the Abacos was $6.45 a gal last Friday per the owner of my marina's boat capt who was there)

I was quoted $6.45 at Teasure Cay and $6.25 at Marsh Harbor (boat harbor)on the phone today.

I talked to someone this evening, that said that "fuel" is $5.60 at West End. But he has a gas boat so I think that was the gas price. I'm gonna call West End tomorrow. Still planning on going. It may be the last time it it is possible for me to pay for the fuel.

Mark,
You are 100% correct. The owners boat was in both locations so I "assumed" it was Boat Harbour.... My mistake.....
Just wish I was there......... The Admiral is making noises about getting back to Nippers soon
