  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
56' MOTOR YACHT (1981 - 1984)
ALCON.

I'm back CONUS after a very long and occasionally unpleasant trip over-seas followed by some Army "PME".

My goal is to get my old Hatty wet and functional again. She's been stashed in the NC area and has been blessed with a paint job since I put her "on the hard". I suspect that the time left fallow has done bad things to her ship's systems. So the bottom line is that she is going to look good, but function poorly. I'm contemplating a marriage proposal right now!

I would like to apologize in advance for the large number of inane, foolish questions. I suspect that they will be framed with inappropriate comments and come dripping with hyperbole.

Eager to partake (again) in the forum and hope to make up for lost time.

Have a HOOAH day.

Timothy (Chief).

Welcome back and thank you for your service. If you're like me you'll really enjoy messing about in boat. Ron

Wow, do they still say that?

How about:
"Bust a cap on him!" ?
or
"Let's hat up!" ?

Don't worry about inane questions; the group has plenty of inane answers...even for good questions! :)

Welcome!

Sadly they (we?) say lots of inappropriate things. It is a bit of a character indictment for me that I tend to think that most of them inappropriate lines are hugely funny.

I have some personal favorites, but they do not lend themselves to being documented in a public forum.

First boat project that I am planning is new batteries, a weekend of bottom painting (just the boat...) and a whole bunch of interior cleaning to get "Fun@Sea.Calm" back to operational status.

I have received a quote from DC battery in Miami for Rolls 8HHG-21's and -25's as well as Deka's and Intercells comparative models.

Does anyone wish to offer any technical insight or advice on the comparisons between the various models, aside from the ~2-2.4K difference in price between the Rolls and the competitor's (8V195's and 8V21's respectively). My (limited) understanding is that I would be paying twice as much for a (possible) 3x's longer life span. Am I missing something?

Regards.
