Attaching stainless boat gate rails

Are the stainless gate caps put on the hand rails with just caulking or 5200 prior to the screws?

Mine are attached with screws.

Hatteras used Screws and about half of the tube of 5200. I had to heat mine to get them off.

Ditto what Sky said. I have removed lots of them over the years and in all cases they were bedded and screwed. Heating the stainless after screw removal does the trick fairly easy.

Mine was clean the previous owners must've had it striped down when the had the hand rails restrained and varnished.
