Hello everyone. Well, "Miss Mary Alma" is now at home in her new slip at the Sheraton Marina in New Bern, NC. I am hoping that some of you may be able to provide references in the area to competent and trustworthy technicians, so that when we do need work to be performed on the boat, I can give them a call--perhaps some moonlighting Hatteras employees. At this point, we want to complete some interior work, including new carpet, wallpaper and such, a few minor engine matters, and trim tab maintenance. Although winters are very mild here, I would also like to get an aft deck enclosure in the next couple of months, and have some minor fiberglass repairs.
Since arriving from Ft. Lauderdale after a six day trip in late August, we have really fallen in love with the place, as we knew we would. We have great neighbors, a great marina staff, and this is a fine town--friendly and helpful all around, with some great restaurants! Even though my wife and I grew up in a small town, after living in Tampa, Miami, and Knoxville, Tennessee, over the last 30 some years, we're experiencing minor adjustments. Two things, however, which have surprized us somewhat are the large number of tourists that come here and the more than a few transient boat owners coming in and out. Any Hatt owners in the marina or area at large, feel free to PM me as we'd be very pleased to meet you!
The view east out the aft doors and windows of our saloon would please even the most avid critic--a fantastic vista across the Trent to the other side of the Neuse River, even though somewhat obstructed by the swing bridge, and to the left along the 900' face dock is always a variety of spanking new Hatts to admire. They are beauts, being primpted for their new owners! Well, you get the picture.
Many thanks!
Paul
