AP16 LCD Display going black

I have an @ 2006 Simrad AP16 Repeater display unit on my Flybridge that is slowly going black. The unit functions well, but the display is getting so dark that its hard to read. The main unit on the main-helm works well and ts display is perfect.

Is there a fix for LCD displays like this? Simrad no longer has replacement units for this model and its hard to buy a new autopilot for this reason alone.

May not be worth replacing the screen alone. Have you tried ebay for a decent used one? Keep yours for parts.

What Jack said on eBay. I look for "donor" units all the time to keep things running. High voltage board goes out on a Northstar 957, buy a functioning used 957 and do a heart-lung transplant on the board. Same thing may work for your screen or just to replace the whole unit as suggested. I also find cheap new old stock sometimes. Put a search in and save it. Just got a good deal on a brand new Northstar 2201 antenna for my stock (Florida has a lot of lightning) and I put that search in years ago.
