  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' LRC (1975 - 1981)
I just saw this on a 58' LRC listed on YW and really like the set-up. Boat is Kingdom. I'm trying to find more information on who made this product.

Thanks in advance!

i donot know about that specific setup but it looks like what some higher end pontoon boats have if your looking for options

I was actually on a couple of those sites last night and they have some nice choices. Not surprisingly, pontoon "stuff" is a lot cheaper than Hatt stuff! The Admiral is happy, so all is good in my world!

The pontoon stuff will work. But bear in mind that pontoon boat decks are generally flat, where your Hatt deck has a crown.

I saw that yesterday when perusing Yacht World. It is pontoon “furniture.” I had a pontoon way back when, and the seating on it was very comfortable and very low maintenance if you get one that’s not made of plywood as the frame. As for the crown on our Hatts, even my original Hatteras L-shaped bench on the flybridge was made flat and Hatt used little teak wedges, or “heels”, on the sides where it needed a little boost to make the seating unit level. You can do the same with these pontoon seats. And yes, they are dirt cheap when compared to stuff made with the intention to be placed upon a Hatteras. I bet these are cheaper than the cost of having new cushions made for your Hatt bench!

There is a place where you can order them - can’t remember the name off the top of my head, and they have all different sizes and configurations. You sort of build the shape you want using sections. Heck, I think West Marine might even have these. Maybe it was Overton’s where I saw them - it was back in the days when I had little boats on a lake.

I wonder how they have it secured. I also wonder about trapping water underneath that may cause blisters on the deck. I think there is a reason that you don't see pontoon boat stuff on a Hatteras. IMO, that's just tacky but to each his own, I guess.

Wow you guys can be real rough.

Kingdom is a beautiful boat and the owners take pride in her as can be seen in the listings pictures. They have traveled extensively aboard her and are bringing her back to the Space coast to sell. I would be careful to make judgments on a boat that you have not seen in person. Especially if you look at the other pictures.

I work at the brokerage and am awaiting her arrival to go over her myself. I do not believe the owners would do anything half a$$ed but I will look at the upper furniture and see how it is fastened.

If anyone is interested I will report back on what is there, How it is fastened and if there was any issues with it.

Scott,
I'm not specifically judging that particular furniture without seeing it. I was merely commenting on the use of pontoon boat parts on a Hatteras. That stuff may be custom that's in that picture. I don't know. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Scott,
I don't think anyone was slamming Kingdom, only offering their views on the furniture. I'm sure she'll make someone a nice new home!

With regards to the "pontoon" furniture, I'm a practical kind of guy (one of the reasons I bought an LRC). If the furniture looks good (to me) and fits the budget, I don't care where it comes from.....

I also don't know where Kingdom's furniture came from, but I obviously liked the look - which initiated this thread. It looks tasteful and comfortable.

Thanks to all for their input! :)

Sky , OBX I know what you are saying. I just made the point that some felt it below the status of a hatt to put the "pontoon style furniture there. The owners have been all over the Caribbean and south America enjoying the boat. Must be nice to actually use a boat that much. It's the armchair captains that seem to be the purists many times. I believe things can be improved upon and when styled appropriately add to the enjoyment of the vessel.

Being a purist has nothing to do with using your boat. Whether or not you modify these boats from OEM is more of a matter of personal preference or taste. I stated my opinion. Some may agree and some may disagree. I like my OEM bridge seating. You can't beat the ruggedness of the fiberglass seats. They have storage and they are painted to match the boat. I would not put a LazyBoy sectional up there unless I owned a river barge houseboat.

I don't know about that. I have tried the new lazy boys with the massage and I would toss the wife overboard of she stopped me form getting one.

Sky My point is that each of us may consider updates and upgrades based on our wants, needs and tastes. I did not think it the most beautiful bit of cabinetry but the fact is it fit the space and worked well.

I have seen people driving purple cars. It's their choice but I would never own one myself. I might put a purple stripe on my truck though if it was done well.

You are one of the people who spends a lot of time using your boat and I know there are things you have or will change too.

I agree. I'm sure there are things on my boat that others might not like. It depends on your tastes and how you use the boat.

I go with the Billy Crystal principal--"It's always better to loooook gooood than to feel gooood"

No it all is tied to "that you use the boat"

So many dock queens. I just cant understand that.

How about thinking outside the Box ;)

Many can not.

As for flat verse crown and trapping water in-between. Do we have to explain how easy it is to fix both of them with one fix?

Overton's catalog has the pontoon boat seats.

I went to see the boat on Friday and she is sweet. The owners put 6,000 miles on her in the last 3 years and the lounge was done right. They live aboard and take great care of her.

It is a rotomolded plastic frame attached with bolts set in 3m caulk. I am not sure if it was a 4000, 4200 or 5200 but it does not leak. The deck has a small crown and it is not an issue with the mounting.

The owners cleaned up a lot of PO projects like the white melamine over the wood and replaced some cabinet doors but she needs only a few basic things.

If anyone needs the details on the boat or the lounge PM me and I will get the manufacturers name and number.

I think I saw this boat on YW. Is there wood that was painted over in some of the staterooms?

There is still some white in the master. Most has been brought back to the original.

Scott,
Can you PM me the lounge furniture details please?
Thanks,
Jeff
