Hi all. I will be attending a two week class at camp legune in feb. Can anyone tell me about the area. Or maybe show me thier boats, or whatever. I might have two weekends to try to fill some time. Maybe reccomend some good restraunts or what to see. And i am just a regular boat nut wanting to see different stuff.

Mike.

Hi Mike, we live near there, in Morehead City, about a half hour away. We don't have a boat yet but we can suggest that you come of the waterfront here and check out the boats. You may also want to go to Beaufort and walk the water front. Not much to see in J-ville, but you can find any kind of restaurant you want. Beaufort has some nice restaurants too on the front street area. Enjoy your stay!

Cheers, Laurie & Jim

Well, if you like used cars and t,.!@#t bars, you have found a wonderful home. I was stationed there for more than a few tours; if you had not noticed by the handle.

Seriously it is a very nice town, the Hatteras plant is very close as you know. You ought to check out New Bern and up north by MCAS Cherry Point.

I was a raider boat driver, among other things, so I am assuming you are attending the small boat school there. I spent many a fun filled night in Lejeune; professional camper was my MOS.

I am guessing you are a "Puddle Pirate"? That is the term of endearment for USCG personel. Hey does the USCG still have the minimum height requirement of 6' or above. I heard they did; that way when the boat sank you could walk back to shore. They tried recruiting me; as I am 6'2", but I couldn't read or write, so I joined the Marines.

PS;

I drove boats too; they had guns, but we didn't save anybody

Almost forgot;

Jarrett Bay in Beaufort; go see that yard...

Thanks much for the tips..

Jarhead, If it were two years ago i might go to those bars for sure!!!! Sounds like you at least had fun being a profesional camper! I have had fun being a profesional boat driver!! It kinda goes like this "lets go out for a ride and do some training or boating safety" wich translates to driving around viewing sites,checking out other peoples boats,cruising,fishing,exploring or whatever on uncle sams (yours and mine) tax dollars. Which as of late is my only boating as you can see from my link.

So it is true you guys heads do fit in a jar! cause ya got no barains!!! harharhar. Tahts ok i cant spell. Yeah you got it right i am a puddle pirate. but they waived the height thing for me as i am only 5'5"!! but i can swim till my feet touch then walk..wich i have had the experiance of at the school over in Cape Disapointment, aka surf school aka rollover school to civies. They made us jump in in eight ft surf off the beach and swim 100yards. After i was done drinking salt water i threw up on my instructors feet on shore!!!!!!!!!!

I will be attending the tactical boat course basiclly were the raider courses are. I am actually not looking forward to it as i am forty and dont like 45knot j turns while shooting a 240 at night.

Are the factories open on the weekends??

Thanks for the info.

Mike

Re: Anyone near Camp Legune? (Spelling there swabbee)

Puddle Pirate,

Check that spelling on "Camp Legune"
You must be an officer; or what we call a "ZERO"!

My thanks and respect to you for your service to our Nation. If you are close to Beaufort and the Dataw Marina I sure wish someone in that area could go over and "scope out" the 60' Hatt there Island Dreamin'. Any information that is provided would be greatly appreciated. Great interest in the boat on my part but given I'm a "wannabe' that has never had a boat, wouldn't mind hearing opinions from the exsperianced folks at all.
Semper Fidelis to you Sir.
Thanks much for any consideration.
